Create ads with guided creation in Ads Manager

To create an ad using guided creation in Ads Manager, go directly to ad creation or select Create to get started. If you see the quick creation workflow, you can switch back to guided creation by selecting Switch to guided creation at the top of the creation flow. You will have to create a complete campaign and ad set before you can publish an ad using guided creation.

Before you begin
If you’re based in or intend to target audiences in the US and want to create an ad campaign that relates to credit, employment or housing, you must choose the category that best describes your ads from the Special ad category drop-down menu.

Create a Campaign
First you will have to create a campaign. You’ll define your campaign’s overall objective at this level.

Choose an objective from the list best aligned with your business goals.
Enter a descriptive name in the Campaign name text box.
You have the option to create a split test at this level.
You have the option to turn on campaign budget optimisation at this level.
Set a daily budget, the average amount you’re willing to spend on an ad set per day.
Or, set a lifetime budget, the amount you’re willing to spend over the entire run-time of your ad set.
Select Show more options to customise campaign bid strategy, ad scheduling or delivery type.
Create an ad set
Once you have created your campaign, you can move on to creating your ad set. You’ll define targeting, budget, schedule, bidding and placement at the ad set level.

Enter a descriptive ad set name in the Ad set name text box.
Define your audience.
Choose or create a Custom Audience (optional).
Hover over Locations, Age, Gender and Detailed targeting and select to edit.
Select Show more options to customise Language or Connections.
Select to Save this audience for future use.
Select your ad placements. This is where you’d like your ads to appear across Facebook, Instagram or Audience Network.
Select Automatic placements, which lets us to show your ads where they’re likely to perform best.
Or, select Edit placements to choose your ad placements manually.
Select Show more options to choose Specific mobile devices & operating systems or Exclude content and publishers.
Hover over Optimisation for ad delivery and select to edit.
Choose the delivery outcome you want most from the drop-down.
Set your budget (only applies if you turned off Campaign budget optimisation at the campaign level).
Set a daily budget, the average amount you’re willing to spend on an ad set per day.
Or, set a lifetime budget, the amount you’re willing to spend over the entire run-time of your ad set.
Set a start and end date.
Select Show more options to customise Spend limits, When you get charged, Ad scheduling and Delivery type.
Create an ad
Once you’ve created your campaign and at least one ad set, you can move on to creating your ad. This is where you’ll select your ad’s creative and add text.
Select your Page. All ads are required to have an associated Facebook Page.
Select an ad format. Choose from several ad formats, including: Carousel, single image or video, or collection. You can create a slideshow if you select the single image or video format.
Choose the creative, or media, that you want to use for your ad.
To upload or choose from previously uploaded images or video, select Add media.
To create slideshows or use video templates, select Create media.
Add the text that you’d like your ad to display.
Depending on your previous selections, you may have the option to add a call-to-action button, choose a pixel and more.
Preview your ad and select Confirm.
To see how your ad will appear across placements, select the placement icons alongside your ad preview.

The first time you publish an ad, you’ll be asked to enter your payment information.
Your campaign is now live (pending review from Facebook). There is no need to review and publish. We’ll publish you ad upon approval.
